Some of our plants really have a hard time. The potted robinia in the front garden for example. The big flower pot is one of Jaspar’s favourite haunts and he just loves to sharpen his claws on the stem. There was once a protective clear wrap around the stem but it was not breathable and the mildew was worse than the scratch marks. Jaspar had also lost interest for a while but now he is an avid scratcher than ever. I am not sure that the little tree will be able to survive this much devotion…

Einige unserer Pflanzen haben es echt schwer. Die Robinie im großen Blumentopf im vorderen Garten zum Beispiel. Der große Topf ist ein Lieblingsplatz von Jaspar und er liebt es, seine Krallen am Stamm zu schärfen. Für einige Zeit hatte ich den Stamm mit einer klaren Schutzfolie aus Kunststoff umwickelt, aber sie war nicht luftdurchlässig und der dadurch entstandene Schimmel war schlimmer als die Kratzspuren. Außerdem hatte Jaspar auch das Interesse verloren, aber inzwischen ist er wieder ein eifriger Krallenschärfer geworden. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob der kleine Baum so viel Hingabe überleben wird…
