In case you are wondering, the language in the headline is Dutch (we are pretty close to the Dutch border) and means cuddly toy. Normally that is what we call gentle Joschi as you can carry him around like a toy cat. But today I mean the fluff balls that are my Norwegians. At this time of year their old winter fur gets a nearly artificial feel like that of a cuddly toy – soft but – how shall I describe it – just not real. Let’s better not talk about Ice-B but this year even Issi’s fur is matted and huge chunks of Islay‘ coat cling together like glue, particularly between his front legs and flank. The change of coat will turn into quite an event this year. To make matters worse, all cats like to roll around in the sun and take a dust bath on the terrace. Look at Marvi’s black fur and you know what I mean.

Für den Fall, dass ihr euch fragt, was da in der Überschrift steht: Das ist Niederländisch (wir sind hier ja gar nicht so weit weg von der holländischen Grenze) und bedeutet Kuscheltier. Normalerweise bezeichnen wir Joschi so, weil er sich meist wie ein Stofftier durch die Gegend tragen lässt. Heute geht es aber um die Flauschbälle, die normalerweise meine Norweger sind. Jetzt zu Frühlingsanfang fühlt sich das alte Winterfell fast künstlich an. Vom Eisbären wollen wir mal gar nicht reden, aber dieses Jahr ist selbst Issis Fell teilweise verfilzt und Islay hat große zusammenhängende Filzbrocken an den Flanken und an der Brust. Der Fellwechsel wird dieses Jahr also noch lustig. Hinzu kommt, dass sich alle Katzen bei Sonnenschein liebend gern auf der Terrasse wälzen, wodurch sie auch noch schön dreckig werden. Auf Marvis schwarzem Fell kann man besonders gut sehen, wie katze dann aussieht.
