Katzenparade Teil 315 - Vorsicht, Verpackung!

The destruction power of the average Norwegian Forest Cat is tremendous. Razor-sharp claws and an untameable curiosity that is not afraid of anything make living with these creatures a real challenge. You do remember the issue about scratching where I mentioned that our little banana leaf scratching post is going to collapse soon? Both cats and humans liked that scratching post but we were also disappointed that it did not last long. So after two of that variety I decided enough was enough. This time I wanted to give a solid scratching stem a try. So before we start with erecting it, I want to draw your attention to the dangers of packaging. As much as cats like boxes, as quickly the humans should remove any plastic wrappers and foils. When the box arrived this time I only needed to cut the green security straps. The Is opened the box by themselves. Watch Islay who knows exactly where to slit the cellotape and who only needs a little bit of scratching to be able to push his head through the opening. Ice-B demonstrates that plastic foil needs to be tasted and I can count myself lucky that Islay only puts his head in some plastic folds and not into a plastic bag while Issi is more interested in the air cushions. As I needed to put the camera down to put all those dangerous things out of harms way, you will have to wait till tomorrow to witness the actual setup of the new scratching post.

Das Zerstörungspotential einer durchschnittlichen Norwegischen Waldkatze ist gewaltig. Messerscharfe Krallen und eine unbezähmbare Neugier, die vor nichts zurückschreckt, stellen das Zusammenleben manchmal auf eine harte Probe. Ihr erinnert euch sicher, dass unser zweiter kleiner Banana-Leaf-Kratzbaum kurz vor dem Zusammenbruch steht. Obwohl dieser Kratzbaum Menschen und Katzen gut gefällt, hat er uns durch seine ziemlich kurze Lebensdauer doch sehr enttäuscht. Ich fand also, dass zwei von der Sorte genug sind. Stattdessen wollte ich lieber einen großen, soliden Kratzstamm ausprobieren. Bevor es an den Aufbau geht, möchte ich euch heute auf die Gefahren von Verpackungen aufmerksam machen. So sehr Katzen Kartons lieben, so schnell sollte Mensch die diversen Plastikhüllen entfernen. Als dieses Mal der Karton ankam, brauchte ich nur die grünen Sicherungsstreifen durchzuschneiden. Den Karton machten die Is selbst auf. Man beachte wie Islay den Klebstreifen zielsicher durchtrennt und nach kurzem Kratzen seinen Kopf in den Karton stecken kann. Der Eisbär zeigt uns dagegen, dass man Plastikverpackungen auch kosten muss. Ich kann froh sein, dass Islay seinen Kopf nur in eine gefaltete Folie steckt und nicht in eine Tüte, während Isfrid sich mehr für die Luftkissen interessiert. Da ich die Kamera aus der Hand legen musste, um schnell all diese gefährlichen Gegenstände zu entfernen, müsst ihr für den eigentlichen Aufbau des neuen Kratzstamms bis zur nächsten Ausgabe warten.
