As all pet owners can testify, there is a dazzling amount of „equipment“ for pets around and you can spent a fortune on toys, beds, bowls and blankets – with very mixed results. Sometimes you are so sure that your darlings will like a new item, only to find out that they could not care less. As the new year is still young let’s do a quick review of last year’s tops and flops.

As you have seen the cardboard cat villa and castle were an instant hit and yes, they are still around! I had to cut out a new bottom for the castle though. But the most popular toy of 2015 has been … (dramatic pause) … a paper bag!!! Thank you, Karl-Theodor! Not only for the lovely gifts you brought us but particularly for the container! 😉

The most useless item we bought should also be news to you as this item was so unpopular I did not even manage to take decent pictures. I am talking about the cat den called „donut“ that the best husband of all immediately liked because of its futuristic design and that appealed to me as it was easy to clean and set up. The cats had different thoughts and apart from the kittens who at least gave it a try, the grown-ups did not even want to enter it.

Die Besitzer von Haustieren werden mir sicher zustimmen: Das Angebot an Dingen, die man inzwischen für seine vierbeinigen Freunde kaufen kann, ist überwältigend. Für Spielzeug, Hütten, Betten und Näpfe kann man ein Vermögen ausgeben – mit sehr durchwachsenem Erfolg. Manchmal ist man sich so sicher, dass ein Gegenstand von seinen Lieblingen begeistert angenommen wird und dann interessiert er sie nicht die Bohne. Das neue Jahr ist noch jung, lasst uns schnell einen Blick auf unsere Tops und Flops des Jahres 2015 werfen.

Wie ihr gesehen habt, waren die Katzenvilla und der Turm aus Pappe ein voller Erfolg und ja, Andrea, es gibt sie immer noch! Nur für den Turm habe ich eine neue Bodenplatte aus einem anderen Karton ausschneiden müssen. Aber das beliebteste Spielzeug 2015 war (und ist) … (Kunstpause) … eine Papiertüte! Vielen Dank, Karl-Theodor, für die schönen Geschenke und das Behältnis, in dem sie uns überreicht wurden. 😉

Der Flop 2015 ist ebenfalls neu für euch, denn er war so unbeliebt, dass ich nicht einmal vernünftige Fotos machen konnte. Es handelt sich um ein Katzenhäuschen names „Donut“. Dem besten Ehemann von allen gefiel es besonders wegen seiner futuristischen Form und mich hatte der einfache Aufbau und die superleichte Pflege gleich überzeugt. Die Katzen sahen das anders. Während die Kätzchen es wenigstens einmal kurz ausprobiert haben, wollten die Großen noch nicht einmal richtig reinsteigen.
