See? Didn’t I tell you that guessing birds is not so diffcult? Here the main clue is in the size. Compare it to the shingles and you get an idea how small the animal is. See how big Jaspar is in comparison when he is sitting on the same roof? The size issue rules out an eagle – Ruth, there is hope and there are eagles, only not where we live – and a buzzard. That leaves the falcon. I included an old photo of one of those and I think you can see that a falcon’s breast feathers are spotted while our b) sparrowhawk features the typical barred underparts. So congratulations to Karl-Theodor, Tamara, Ruth and Martin!
Na bitte! Habe ich euch nicht gesagt, dass es gar nicht so schwer ist, einen Vogel zu raten? Die Größe ist hier das wichtigste Merkmal. Vergleicht den Vogel einmal mit den Dachpfannen, dann seht ihr, wie klein er ist. Schaut einmal wie riesig Jaspar auf demselben Dach aussieht. Wegen der Größe fallen ein Adler – Ruth, es gibt Hoffnung und es gibt wieder mehr Adler, leider nur nicht bei uns – und der Bussard weg. Bleibt nur noch der Falke. Ich habe ein altes Foto von einem angehängt. Ich glaube es lässt sich erkennen, dass die Unterseite und Brust eines Falken gefleckt sind, währen unser b) Sperber, die typische Bänderung zeigt.
